Retracing Queer Footprints: Sharing the LGBTQIA+ History of Victoria through Queer-ways

Was held on the 26 April 2023. 7 PM at the Victorian Pride Centre - 79/81 Fitzroy St, St Kilda

As part of the Urban Canvas Mural Festival, join LUCIANO at the Victorian Pride Centre to learn about the community arts initiative Queer-ways. Queer-ways maps the stories and voices of past and present into a permanent, interactive record of being queer in Victoria. Developed in response to the COVID-19 lockdowns, LUCIANO and George Keats with support from the Australian Queer Archives, engaged Melbourne's LGBTQIA+ community in collaborative digital mapping.

The project has grown into an award-winning initiative to acknowledge the queer heritage of Victoria's cities and towns. In this talk, LUCIANO will reflect on Queer-ways' progress and discuss future opportunities for the initiative, including the new mural on Jackson Street painted as part of the Urban Canvas Mural Festival.
